These days are crazy, and tiring, and still a whirlwind. But these days are so, so good. Billy and I still can't believe we are parents of two little ones. Two perfect handsome gentleman. Our Ben and Sawyer. Oh man, are we ever in love with these two.
Ben can't stop kissing Sawyer. It makes me melt every time. Sometimes he won't even kiss him, he'll just put his cheek next to his cheek and hold it there for a second. Sawyer could not have asked for a more gentle big brother, let me tell you. I'll be reminding them of this when they are punching eachother down the road.
I think I'm going to need to buy about 10 external harddrives for all the pictures I'm sure to be taking for the rest of my life, right? Geez.
Oh, and I have started Sawyer's monthly photos just as I did for Ben...will share his one month in a little bit!
P.S. No, I don't let them sleep beside eachother unless I'm there with them. I usually let them fall asleep like that and then quickly run Sawyer out of the roon so Benny can get in a good nap. And yes, all naps take place in mommy and daddy's bed, because why not?
P.P.S. Ive missed blogging. Still won't have much time for it, but I'm going to kind of try. Even if it's just sporatic. But I won't promise because I've become a blogger flake.
It's February! YAY! We're almost there spring, we're surviving all this cold and we're waiting to throw on flip-flops and shorts....just a few more weeks (months? meh whatever) and it will be sunny and not freezing!! Oh I can't wait.
The last week has been very busy, it was my birthday! So ya, I'm getting older by the second, not awesome, but my birthday was really great this year. On the weekend before it my friends all came out for dinner and drinks at our place, it was perfect. I did get a few pictures but because we were in a pub they didn't turn out great...
On my actual birthday, a miracle happened and Billy had a weekday off, yay! I laid around for a good part of the day in pajamas watching Breakfast at Tiffany's, and then my boys took me out for some shopping and for a really nice dinner. Ben was so well-behaved at the restaurant too which was another birthday miracle (he hasn't always been the greatest with restaurants).
How cute are these two walking together? Also, how heartbreaking is it that my tiny newborn baby can walk around and wear proper jeans and say things like 'robot'. Tears.
After Ben was in bed Billy and I watched movies and he gave me my present which was flowers, chocolates and (gulp) a day at the spa. OH MAN, might be the best present of my life. I've never done a day at the spa, and it always kind of felt like it was something people just did in the movies and not something that us real folks get to do but I'm doing it!!! I can't waitttttt.
Overall, such a great birthday with my boys. I love them to death. Thank you Billy and Ben for being the people I get to spend my days with. xoxo
(We also had another birthday party to attend which I'll post about soon and include, yes, more Instagram pictures. Who else is sick to death of Instagram photo dumps? Are there really any people seeing these pictures for the first time? Why am I even blogging when this is all old Instagram news? I guess that's a whole other story...)
We're in the thick of it these days...it's freezing, it's hard to get out every day, Ben hates his snowpants...winter and being a stay at home Mom can suck sometimes. I know, I know, no one likes to hear the whining of a person who gets to stay home...believe me I know how hard it is working long days in the winter too (up and it's dark, leave work and it's dark, a few measly weeks off each year if you're lucky). But being a stay at home Mom has an entire set of it's own things. There are lots of pluses, the biggest one being getting to be with Ben 24/7. It's why I did this, it's why I gave up my career (for now) to do this. But MAN can it be tough.
I think the hardest part, for me, is feeling isolated. Billy works really long days and nights. So, most days we have all of our meals alone, our outings are just us, and I don't have nearby friends with young kids that Ben can play with. There are drop in centres that we go to, but I have yet to see the same Mom twice if you can believe it. What's a girl to do?
There is a rec centre that has just opened near our house (we've been anxiously watch them build it for about a year now), so next week we're going to check out their 'Tots Stay and Play' program. I'm really hoping it's better than the other programs we've checked out. I have found that almost all of the girls running these programs seem kind of disinterested and hang out on their cell phones. Annoying.
On the weekends they have a family swim program so Billy and I are going to take Ben to that in the next couple of weeks, I'm pretty excited to see my guys swimming together!
Apart from that, I guess we'll just take each week as it comes, and try to get out as much as we can. I hope all you Moms out there are making it through the winter with your little ones ok. Here's hoping for an early spring!!
