Last night we went to see The Smashing Pumpkins, and it has pulled me out of blogging obscurity. I know. Weird. It's only been, what, a year? More? Meh, whatever. 

When I was a kid, grade 6, I bought a mix tape from this kid in my middle school. The Mix Tape is called "Chuck's Kick Ass Mix' and it was indeed, a kick ass mix. On it was a pretty incredible mix of bands - Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Blind Melon....and The Smashing Pumpkins. And so began my love of this band. 

There are many bands that I love more than SP, it's not that I'm a superfan. But, this band is my CHILDHOOD. Hearing the song Today takes me right back to the first time I listened, right after I went downtown and bought the tape with my allowance. And hearing 1979 takes me right back to laying in fields in the summer with friends, trying to figure out where we should go, what we should do, nothing but time on our hands. We weren't all absorbed with technology, we were just kids, wild and free, right on the cusp of the technological revolution that is slowly robbing our children of their childhoods. 

Anyway, last night Billy and I saw SP at Massey Hall in Toronto. What. A. Show. Every song was perfect. Lots of acoustic. Lots of electric. A Bowie cover. A Stones cover. All so perfect. But to me, the best part of the show came when they played 1979. Everyone stood and sang with him. It was everything. I was instantly transported to my teenage years, to summer, to the days when you would just sit and listen, REALLY listen, to a good song. And when Billy stopped singing, the crowd went crazy. Standing ovation. And no one would stop clapping. It was the middle of the show, so it was no encore clap. And I can't speak for anyone else there. But for me, it was just my way of showing him that 1979 is one of the best songs I've ever heard, the song of a generation. The song that represents everything, before it all became something else. 

Anyway, I think I'll pop in here again now, because honestly I'm just too long winded for Instagram and I have lots to share. I've been crazy busy with my business and I would like to share some posts on that too (and maybe share some tips and tricks, that sort of thing.

Springridge Farm

A few days ago Billy took us out to Springridge Farm for the day, and Ben LOVED this place! There were animals to pet and dump trucks. I mean, it was a kids dream.

















Such a cute place, I think we'll have to go again sometime! 

And I'm SO happy that it's almost the weekend, and Billy will be home for a few days! These long work days of his are so long for us too, I can't wait to see Ben's excited face later when he gets home :)

Ben's Birthday Scooter

As it happened, Billy had to work on Ben's actual birthday. So, between his big party and our little birthday outing as a family, his birthday celebration was stretched out for about a week. I don't think he minded a bit!

On Friday we too Ben down to the Pier to give him his present from us, a Scooter! He LOVED IT.









We also got some lunch down at William's, one of our favourite places. I don't think there was one tantrum during lunch, success! I mean, taking a three year old out to a restaurant isn't always fun these days, so we take what we can get!







Such a fun birthday week, just love these boys :)

The tricycle is out!

It's been beautiful lately, chilly but sunny and I LOVE IT. I don't like summer to hit us too quickly, I want to actually have a spring, and that seems to be the case this year. Yay!

We've been playing in the backyard lately and Ben insisted on pulling out his tricycle, so I picked up a helmet for him and we took it for a spin.

A Saturday stroll

I'm on a roll! I can't even help it, this weekend has been nothing but photo ops and I love it. I know when you read blogs (at least when I do) sometimes you wonder if all people do is take pictures and not live in the moment...and sometimes it probably seems like it but I feel like having pictures of things like simple afternoons with my family lets me relive it over and over. Worth it!



















Look at this cheeky pair. "Hide, mommy's coming!" is all I hear around here. 

What a perfect Saturday this was. All I need is a little sunshine and some trees and my family and I'm happy. Also a latte doesn't hurt.

Our first Easter Egg hunt!

After a rather crazy day with the boys yesterday (tantrums, oh so many tantrums) we had a perfect morning today at Dyment's farm. They have a pancake breakfast and egg hunt every year, and this was our first visit. We go in the fall for the pumpkin picking/wagon ride stuff, but I think we will have to make this egg hunt business an annual event too!





Ya, I take pictures of random farms. I mean, who doesn't love a good farm picture?







Benjamin has a tiny mini freakout when the egg hunt started (so many screaming kids) but he soon lightened up and was pretty excited about the nine eggs he collected. And let me tell you, when he realized he could actually EAT those eggs, and that they were made of CHOCOLATE, well that was another thing all together. Day, made.

And despite all the greyness, it was actually really great weather. Overcast and mild, so nice after the longest winter in all of eternity (right?) so I'm not complaining one bit. No winter coats!! YES!!



Sawyer was cozy in his little fuzzy suit and slept almost the entire time. (What is my hair doing in this picture??) It was such a great morning. I wish there were little kid events like this every weekend...I might like them even more than the kids do...

Easter is coming!

This is the first year that Ben is really going to be into the whole Easter business, and we are SO excited to give him some little surprises! 

We have an egg hunt planned that will be plastic eggs filled with Thomas trains...most of his trains are Imaginarium trains, he only has a few of the actual Thomas set so he's going to freak out. We are going to have them lead to this little backpack!!

Yep, he's going through a major Thomas phase right now so he is going to be thrilled. The backpack will be filled with some little toys, chocolates, and The Amazing Machines Book Set.  He has Amazing Airplanes and it's one of his favs so we can't wait to read them all with the boys! 

We are also going go to a nearby farm for an egg hunt and to meet the Easter Bunny. So excited! Ok, so I might be more excited than I should be. Not a bit sorry!

Happy Birthday Benjamin!

Ben is TWO years old. I can't believe it. I want to write more about this incredible little man of ours, but for now I'll share just a few pictures from our family get together over the weekend. We kept it small which was really nice. Ben had SUCH a good time!
