How great is this Vanity Fair cover?





Love it. Makes me miss seeing Kristen Wiig every week on SNL. I'm trying to scale back my magazine addiction, but I don't think I can resist this one!

Despite my magazine addiction, Flare is actually not one in my regular rotation. This cover, however, might be enough to change my mind. Doesn't Michelle Williams look perfect?





Michelle, not being on Dawson's Creek totally agrees with you.

The Oscars 2012

I'm so sad it's over. If I could, I would be one of those people that has a big Oscars party where everyone is forced to dress up and make the whole thing into a way bigger deal than it is. But, with a teething baby, I settled for sweatpants and popcorn, and watching it in between baby snuggling sessions.


Anyway, the fashion this year was lovely. Nothing blew my mind, I must say. But nothing was dreadful either. So, here we go. Best dressed of the Oscars, 2012.





Sandra. I used to really dislike you. Then that whole thing happened with that idiot guy, and suddenly I love you for being a hip independant lady. Also, you looked fab in this dress. I think some people disliked this one, but it looks wonderfully expensive and you look insanely skinny, so regardless you win. Well done.





Emma. I love it when people who primarily do goofy comedies suddendly get invited to the Oscars all the time. You have always been lovely, but now way more people know about it. Red was a good choice. 





Penelope, this colour is PERFECT. That's all.





This girl. No idea who you are, but this dress was stunning. Jennifer Aniston should have been there last night and worn this. (Will I ever let go of my love for Jen? No. No I won't.)



Oh Rooney, you are my new red carpet fav. I love love love everything you chose this year. We may never see you again, which I hope isn't true, but if it is, you did good.




Michelle. I'm a little tired of the oh-so-demure thing you're doing, but the world is eating it up, so good for you. Your dress, however, was my favourite. Colour of the year. Someone did their homework. It was lovely.


Notes about the show:

• The guy that made fun of Angelina's weird pose was brilliant. Such nerve to do that right in front of Brad. Highlight of the night.
• What was with the JLo Cameron turn-at-the-same-time moment? So dumb.
• Will Farrel and Zach Galifianakis with cymbals. Too funny.
• Meryl Streep winning. YES.

The Globes

Oh, award season. I love you. Soooo much.


The Globes were pretty good this year, I thought. I know people are always whining about how boring award shows are, but that's never going to change. If you're not interested in the dresses, there's not much to see.


I always pick my favs, and this year was easy. These dresses stood out for me.

 


Kate just looks amazing all the time, she sort of works whatever it is she is wearing. So gorgeous. 




That black dress was so cool. I love it when people wear a black dress that doesn't look boring. LOVE. Don't know much about the girl. Very little interest in those dragon tattoo movies.  
 



Angie was stunning. Ya, she' stole Brad. I think I'm over it. Sort of.





And Natalie...well she's just my fav.


Side note, Sarah Michelle Geller looked silly (top pony, really?). And best dressed guy was Joey (aka Matt LeBlanc).

Emmy's 2011 - The best dressed, and the weird Julianna Margulies dress

I love to do a little best-dressed list after an award show, but before I get to that I have some questions. Questions that are popping into my head during pretty muich every award show.

1. Why are people so into Heidi and Seal? Are there really big fans out there of 'Kiss from a Rose'? 
2. Are the Glee kids multiplying? Do they really need to take up 90% of everything on television?
3. Why do Will Arnett and Amy Poehler not have a reality show? 
4. Is there anything that Ryan Seacrest is not the producer of?
5. Why does Chris Martin never go anywhere with Gwyneth? I mean, come on man. Snob.
6. Will I ever stop hoping to see Brad and Jen walk down the red carpet?

Ok, so on to the fashion. These were my favs.


Emily.I am a big Emily fan anyway, but this dress is just so lovely. Her stylist is awesome.





This Glee girl. Don't watch the show, but this dress looks cool. Weird shoulders, yes, but I think they're working for her. 





Evan. I have not embraced the ultra short rather strange hair...but the dress is lovely.





Elisabeth. I lover her on Mad Men, but she always looks so drab. This is a nice change.





This girl. No clue who she is or what she does, but I  love this dress. 





As for my least favourite, that goes hands down to Julianna Margulues. Just awful. This weird glass bubble things. I don't get it. Sorry Armani.

The Globes - 2011

The Golden Globes were...ok. I was saddened to not see Diane Kruger, Jennifer Aniston, Rachel Bilson, Blake Lively, Sienna Miller, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Connely, Rachel McAdams….well the list goes on. However, some women still managed to look fabulous, though very few wowed me this time around.

These were the best of the best:

Dear Michelle Williams. Your dress looked like it was from Walmart. Just sayin.

Dear Alexa Chung. I like you very much. And if I could find a good pic of you, I’d add it to my best dressed, just because you were so cool.

My favourite gentleman of the night was Michael Douglas. He’s one of my all time favourite actors, I adore him, and I’m so happy that he’s doing well. He looked wonderful. And his standing ovation made me teary.

An honourable mention goes to Robert Downy Jr., just because he’s awesome.

I was very, very happy to see Natalie win for best actress. I really, really hope she wins the Oscar. She deserves it. And, I am a little worried she’s going to pull out of the limelight for a few years now that she’s having a baby (tear), so this may be the last we see of her for a while.
