One of the many reasons why J.D. Salinger is amazing.

Just a warning, this quote from The Catcher in the Rye does in fact contact a rather bad word. So, I apologize to anyone reading this with sensitive ears. But, this is one example of the hundreds of hilarious quotes from one of the best books in the world. I've read this book many times, but I've just finished it again for the first time in years. All people must read this book, at least once. I mean it.

"That's the whole trouble. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "Fuck you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "Fuck you."

  2. One of my favorite memories is when, in 43, you came downstairs all bored - looking for something to read and got this off the bookshelf. We were downstairs listening to you laugh upstairs.

Once finished you came to me and Dad and asked if we had more like this........lol....and so, I think, began the love of all things Salinger.
